JRCC provided planning, engineering design, and construction administration services for Phase 1 of the Amisk West Subdivision, a new urban-style residential development designed to address housing shortages and support long-term growth within Opaskwayak Cree Nation. The project included 95 single-family lots, three multi-family apartment complexes, paved roads, sidewalks, street lighting, water and sewer services, and a comprehensive stormwater drainage system.
To guide the development, JRCC prepared an Integrated Community and Infrastructure Plan and completed extensive environmental, geotechnical, drainage, and traffic studies. The subdivision was designed with modern municipal standards, incorporating curb-and-gutter roadways, active transportation infrastructure, and utility systems sized to accommodate future residential and commercial expansion. The project also overcame challenging site conditions, including extensive peat deposits, high groundwater levels, and complex servicing requirements.
The completed development provides safe, reliable infrastructure and a variety of housing options while creating a strong foundation for future community growth. In recognition of its innovative planning and engineering approach, the project received an Award of Merit from the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies Manitoba.
