Water Treatment Plant Upgrade
The Town of Rivers was serviced by an aging water treatment plant that did not meet all the objectives of the Manitoba Drinking Water Safety Act or the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality.
To upgrade the water system, JRCC completed the design of a dual train membrane filtration WTP with chlorine and UV disinfection and a 990 m3 reservoir storage to service a year 20 population of 1,689. The existing water treatment plant and existing reservoir and water tower were decommissioned in favour of a new treatment plant and storage system.
Rivers will be supplied with safe drinking water and a water treatment plant that meets current regulations and standards and is designed to provide adequate storage to meet fire protection, emergency, and equalization needs.
The water treatment plant is currently under construction with commissioning anticipated in summer 2017.
