Municipal Roadway Study
The Town of Gillam retained JRCC for a road and drainage renewal project that will take place over six years and will include approximately 20 km of roads over 35 streets.
The roadway conditions in Gillam vary greatly, requiring different renewal techniques, depending on the individual road. Renewal options include applying an asphalt overlay, completing full depth milling of the existing asphalt and replacing it with new asphalt, or completing a full reconstruction.
JRCC completed a visual inspection and a topographical GPS survey of the roads and drainage systems. To assess the existing road structure, Trek completed a geotechnical investigation that consisted of 200 test holes. Based on the information gathered, roadway renewal techniques were determined.
Construction works, scheduled to be completed on a 5-year plan, began in 2017. Each construction year will be tendered separately based on the roadways selected by the Town.
