Irrigation Works
JRCC completed an irrigation project for Long Plain First Nation with funding that was solicited and obtained through the INAC Economic Development Fund. The design and construction of the Long Plain Irrigation Project was completed over seven years and covered approximately 2,430 ha (6,000 acres) of land to allow potato farming.
Extensive environmental assessments and testing were conducted. The design of the irrigation infrastructure included a river intake system from the Assiniboine River (three floating intake structures, each comprised of a pump, controls, intake screen, etc.), pressure booster pump station, 14,155 m of PVC irrigation piping, 22 irrigation pivot pads and several irrigation pivots.
