Waste Disposal Ground Upgrade and Expansion
JRCC was retained by the LGD of Mystery Lake/City of Thompson to upgrade and expand the existing waste disposal ground facility. Services included geotechnical investigations, Environmental Assessment submission, design, resident and non-resident administration.
Phase 1 (2012) included a new active cell, leachate collection piping and evaporation pond, drainage works, fencing and signage. Phase 2 (2013) included five new active cells, leachate collection piping, perimeter dikes and an upgraded contaminated soils remediation area. Phase 3 (2013) and Phase 4 (2015-16) included new active cell areas with perimeter dikes and leachate collection piping. Phase 4 also included ditching works and installation of portable fencing.
The ownership of the waste disposal ground was transferred from the LGD of Mystery Lake to the City of Thompson during Phase 4 of the project.
